Color DUOS to DO (ok or at least consider)!

Brides -to- Be,

With all that you have on your plate on a daily bases ....now you have the great task of trying to read all the bridal books that they have out here for you! You want to know what's hot and what's not, whose has the latest trends that would fit perfectly in your special day. Well here at Distinctively Styled we have been there and done that. I will read for you and pick out some of the hot topics that I think may be appealing and eye catching.

Lets talk COLORS: You know colors say a lot about us and they set the tone and mood for any event. Consider these nice duos and see if any of these selections POP out at you!

The following information is taking from Chicago Styled Wedding Magazine (Jan/Feb 2009 Edition).

Brown & Blue:
(This color due has really taken a life of it own, it is beautiful yet elegant.)

This color combo is soft and pretty, yet rich and dramatic. Find these hues in dresses and accessories, as well as at the reception lines, favors and stationary.

Red & Yellow:

This color combo is for the bride that loves life. This due is not for the shy. Showcase red and yellow in flowers, especially bold blooms like roses, ranunculus and daises.

Black & White:

This classic color combo is a real stunner. Highlight the contrasting colors and wherever you can from crisp, white invitations with dramatic black-and-white tuxedo cookies at the reception. (Hey it's an idea)

Green & Yellow:

This serene and pretty color combo is popular because the subtle, yet striking colors complement each other so well. There are lots of green flowers for bouquets and many bridesmaids' dresses are available in green and yellow.

Red & Orange:

This is a bold color combo that makes a strong statement. It is especially a good choice for a spring or summer wedding. Accessorize your big day with these bright hues: use seasonal blooms like gerber daises and dahlias and select bold linens and favors.

Green & Lavender: (I really love this due, purple is one of my favorite colors)

Soft and sweet are the words to describe this color combination. Use this color duo for your bridesmaid dresses, linens and other accessories like centerpieces

Brown & Pink: (I have actually used this color duo in planning a baby shower and it was just exquisite)

Try this pretty and DISTINCTIVE (hey I didn't say it they used that word :) color combo in everything from centerpieces - brown baskets adorned with pink blooms, to favors - think chocolates wrapped in pink bows.

Hey ladies I hope this information helps brighten your special day in someway.

One more tip before I sign off. I know this may sound crazy, but trust me it works. When you are at one of your local paint stores go and pick out the different color pallets that you are considering using. Each color usually has 4 different shades of the same color on a card. This is good to have because all the colors that you plan to use will not have to be the same exact shade add different shades of the same color to make it more appealing and making your color selection stand out above the rest. Carry this around with you in your planner so that when you go and make your selection for napkins, linens, flowers, invitations and more this will be your guide.

Until next time......

Recently Engaged?!

Good Evening,

The time is now 6:15pm and I have some DS breaking news for those who may have recently gotten engaged. First of all CONGRATULATIONS!!! With all the excitement of your wonderful news to family and friends, soon it will be time to sit back and plan this special day. Here are 9 things that you will need to do after getting engaged.
  1. Get Organized (Set a timetable)
  2. Envision the Style (Traditional, Modern, Chic) Always opt to personalize, so that your day reflects you.
  3. Set your budget (Be realistic in the very beginning of this process.)
  4. Determine a Date (Consider the months, a particular day of the week and so forth prices will vary depending on this crucial information.)
  5. Announce your Engagement (Will you have an Engagement Party?) If so that's an additional party to plan so start thinking about elements that you would like to incorporate in this celebration) Look to DS Invitations to help with your announcements
  6. Choose your attendants (Matron of Honor, Bridesmaid, Best Man, Groomsmen, Flower girl etc.)
  7. Make a Guest List ( Please make sure to start putting this list on paper as soon as possible, you may think that we don't have many we know. But you will be surprised how fast you reach 100 guest and that just may be family.)
  8. CONSIDER A CONSULTANT (Hey, Distinctively Styled Weddings is here to provided assistance in this area) No event is to big or to small . Whether it's full service (pre-planning from engagement to last dance and honeymoon, to someone to come in on the day of the wedding to ensure that everything runs smoothly....we promise to work hard so you won't have too!
  9. Start Gown Shopping (Brides I'm sure, you already have) lol...
